Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi: Our children’s health is a national priority

“Empowering children with safe digital pharmaceutical knowledge”

Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Director-General of the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), stressed that the Establishment is committed to ensuring the highest safety standards for medicines intended for children in the UAE’s domestic market.

In a statement marking Emirati Children’s Day, Dr Fatima Al Kaabi said the occasion, observed annually on 15 March, provides an opportunity to reaffirm the EDE’s commitment to protecting children’s health and strengthening the quality of healthcare delivered to them through an integrated pharmaceutical and regulatory system.

Al Kaabi noted that its efforts align with the UAE’s vision of placing human health and quality of life at the centre of development.

Her Excellency added that this year’s Emirati Children’s Day theme, “the right to digital knowledge”, highlights the importance of enabling children and their parents to access reliable digital health information, supporting the safe use of medicines across the community, particularly among children.

Dr. Fatima said the establishment attaches utmost attention to ensuring the safety of paediatric medicines available in the local market through a comprehensive regulatory framework aligned with international quality standards.

These efforts, Her Excellency said, contribute to strengthening drug security and improving the efficiency of the country’s healthcare system, while supporting innovation and flexibility in pharmaceutical policies.

Al Kaabi stated the UAE really sets the standard when it comes to investing in people and making sure both citizens and residents enjoy a high quality of life. Her Excellency added that kids are the future, and protecting their health is a responsibility the establishment takes very seriously.
